More Cycling – Better City
A model-based exploration of measures for increasing cycleability
The infrastructure of our cities is twentieth-century, outdated and overburdened. The Next Economy requires a redesign of the city and its infrastructure. In collaboration with design offices, the PBL (Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency) and the CRa (Board of Government Advisors) have investigated what cities in the Netherlands can do to improve the sustainability of their infrastructure.
Cycling is gaining popularity and confronts cities with new challenges. More and more cities are discovering the added value of a good cycle network. Still, little is known about the appropriate measures to actually exploit this potential. With Artgineering and the province of Utrecht, the best measures to develop the potential of Utrecht’s cycle network are investigated.
